I’ve always really liked the lightning here because it really symbolizes Luke’s ~internal conflict:

• trying not to give in to his anger (and the Dark Side) but struggling because of Vader’s taunting/everything Vader has done to him
• feeling torn because everyone tells him he has to kill Vader to save the galaxy, but he doesn’t want to kill his own father as long as there is good in him
